Golden Harvest Beekeeping ~ FREE Swarm Removal
Bees swarm to relieve overcrowding in the hive and expand their range. Swarming can take place at almost any time of year, however, it is most common in the springtime as the weather is warming up and bees become more active. Wild swarms are an important source of “survivor bees”. These survivor bees are very important because they have developed a natural resistance to pests and diseases that are contributing to the decline in Honey Bee populations around the world.
In a swarm, Honey Bees are at their most docile and can often be handled without the need for protective clothing. If you encounter a swarm don’t be alarmed and please let them live. If left alone they will most likely find a new home on their own within a few hours to a day. However, the new home may be in a wall or other inconvenient place where they are unwanted or could cause damage.
Golden Harvest Beekeeping will collect swarms and remove them free of charge in the Woodside, Redwood City, Menlo Park, Atherton , Palo Alto and San Mateo County. Swarms need to be accessible. The bees will be provided with a brand new home in one of our apiaries and lovingly cared for. We also offer placement and tending services for those who wish to enjoy the many benefits of having an active beehive on their property. Please see Beekeeping Services for more information. ~Richard Baxter
